Director's Choice is a fantastic album recorded by The United States Marine Band in 1995 at George mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. Today's Marine Band is comprised of one hundred forty three of the nation's finest musicians, and this album is a testament to this. Each piece on this album is played beautifully and with great attention to detail, as directed by Colonel John R Bourgeois. As a Director of the United States Marine Band, Colonel Bourgeois is musical advisor to the White House. Each piece on this album was chosen by Colonel Bourgeois to be included, making the compilation the Director's Choice. Works on the album include Ottorino Respighi's The Pines of Rome, Richard Wagner's Overture to Tannhauser, and Hector Berlioz's Marche Hongroise from La damnation de Faust. On Director's Choice, The United States Marine Band continues the tradition of excellence, which earned it the title "The President's Own".
