Chimes of Liberty
This album, recorded by The United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps, is a fantastic compilation of some of the greatest works in the band's repertoire. Featuring songs like America the Beautiful, Let's Take the Long Way Around the World, and "Gloria" March, Chimes of Liberty is a commanding display of what can be done with two valve piston bugles accompanied by an assortment of field drums. The United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps is characterized by a judicious, ever-shifting blend of dazzling instrumental skill, tasteful showmanship and the emotional involvement of each performer. Most of what "The Commandant's Own" performs on this recording takes the form of special arrangements of music that were initially conceived for other media. While they cover the broad spectrum of musical form, these arrangements are mostly faithful to the spirit of the original compositions, whilst displaying a unique styling and invention. Directed by Colonel Truman W. Crawford, Chimes of Liberty is an exceptional album, performed by "The Commandant's Own" United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps.
