The Art of the Chinese Harp
The guzheng, also called “zheng,” is a horizontally-played harp with a sound box that looks similar to the Japanese koto. The instrument was used as early as 475 BC, especially in western China. The 13 tracks on this release showcase the beauty of this ancient instrument, as well as other traditional Chinese instruments such as the aserhu, yehu, dizi, and sheng. Songs include “Spring on Snowy Mountains,” “Harvest Drumming,” “Lotus,” and more.
